A Valentine’s treat if ever their was one. Lace has become an exclusive material only used by top end designers. Although we have seen small token gestures incorporated by other brands often in the form of what is known as binding. This is where small strips of lace will be bound to the bra cups, either across the top or along the bottom.
A luxurious glamorous lace is often made by specialist fabric makers in France (for example Calais Lace & Guipure) and now used in many different ways.
Other designers have incorporated lace straps which can make a bra sexy and sophisticated, the best example of this is Simone Perele’s Alize.
Another design strategy for incorporating this luxurious fabric is to layer the lace over another material. This can easily be used to give an extra dimension to the lingerie, using contrasting colours.
This last year has seen an increase in the incorporation on two of the most expensive luxurious materiasl, lace darned with crystals. La Perla and Lise Charmel have created some stunning lingerie sets for Autumn Winter 2011 and going into Spring Summer 2012. Lise Charmel have used Swarovski Crystals for true appeal.
Lace is a romantic material, but is also extremely sexy due to it’s transparent nature, making it an ideal gift for a women.
Lace is also an excellent fabric for bras due to it’s flexible nature. It can either be made with lycra for stretch across the top of the bra cups or made from a tight weave for support across the bottom of the cups.
